Morata: 'Juve are playing me out of position'

Despite scoring the winner against Manchester City in the first seasonal Champions League game, Alvaro Morata’s season so far has been a little disappointing, the Spaniard only adding two more goals to the screamer we saw at the Etihad.

The 23-year-old analyzed his poor form talking to the Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

“This year is a little more complicated than last season. At the beginning of the campaign I was injured, while now I am not playing in my natural position.”

“We are missing Andrea Pirlo and Fernando Llorente a lot, but personally I miss the latter more. I would have never done what I did last year if he wasn’t on the team. Pirlo, by the way, is a player who can guarantee an extra 10/15 points to a team's total, just from set pieces.”

Despite his recent struggles, Juventus still rely on Morata going forward, as the Bianconeri have just offered him a contract renewal.

“Negotiations with the club began recently and everything is running smoothly. Juventus offered me a contract extension with a pay rise, and I am very happy about it, because it means that I am doing a good job here.”

As widely known, his former club Real Madrid could exercise a € 30 million buy-out clause at the end of this season and bring him back to the Santiago Bernabeu, although the Juventus star is skeptical over this opportunity.

“Oddly, since I stopped scoring, I haven’t heard any more rumors concerning the Recompra.”
