Montella: ‘AC Milan don’t need Fabregas’

AC Milan boss Vincenzo Montella has released an interview with Il Corriere della Sera on his first months in charge of the rossoneri.

“I am happy to be trusted and I am very happy in Milan. The city offers a lot, especially in the night. Being a manager I am a bit worried for it (he laughs).”

“We’ve reached more than what we’d have expected but we can still improve. There is a good environment here, there is optimism.”

“Montolivo is almost irreplaceable because he is a leader of the dressing room and because he can deliver high standard performances in both phases. He’s been one of the most criticized players in the last years, but playing at AC Milan also means being able to cope with pressure and critics.”

“We need a player with the same skills o Montolivo and who can also play in a two-man midfield. Fabreagas doesn’t have exactly the same skills.”

“I trust Locatelli. He’s played some important games, but only as a replacement. I’d have preferred to have more time to make him grow.”

“Berlusconi would play with 11 Italian youths on the pitch. The first thing he asks when he calls me is who are the two strikers starting the next game. I always reply: ‘So can’t I play with three?’”
