FOCUS There are no sacred cows at Milan, not even Donnarumma
"The sale of the club should bring €740 million into Fininvest's coffers. We shouldn't have to deal with outgoings - which often reached €100-150 million annually - anymore," Marina Berlusconi told Il Sole 24 Ore, "This sale should make Fininvest more solid from a financial perspective".
Silvio Berlusconi's daughter is essentially saying that Fininvest won't spend another lira on the club until the end of the year, by which time the new owners will take over. All that is left is the 15m pledged by the Chinese ownership, with another 85 on the way after the end of the September transfer window.
MIlan are essentially in transition, with a mixture of second-rate talents or prospects coming in, in the mould of Vangioni, Lapadula, Gustavo Gomez, Sosa and likely new arrival Pasalic.
Beyond that, the Rossoneri don't have any sacred cows: nobody is unsellable. Without a passionate owner like Berlusconi, Milan will be happy to spend if they need to buy, meaning that the likes of Donnarumma, Bonaventura, Romagnoli and Bacca could well leave if the right offer is made.
