Milan could miss out on their transfer targets due to inability to sell players
Even if Milan can’t be blamed for Luiz Adriano’s collapsed transfer to Jinagsu Suning, it is fair to say that the Rossoneri are having more than a problem with selling their outcasts, who, oddly, are also the highest earners at San Siro.
Have a look at what happened with Stephan El Shaarawy, by instance.
‘The Pharaoh’ is on a € 3 million deal until 2018, but he has been falling in price after that he had finished the first part of the 2012-2013 campaign as the Serie A leading scorer with 14 goals.
El Sha has been failing to live up to his potential since February 2013 and last summer he was loaned out to AS Monaco who decided not to make his move permanent, six months before the end of his one-year spell at the Stade Luis II.
Similarly, Nigel De Jong (€ 3 million until 2018) and Diego Lopez (€ 2.5 million until 2018) have turned down all the offers they’ve received thus far.
The Holland International was chased by Leicester, Werder Bremen and a couple of MLS sides, while the former Real Madrid shot-stopper have rejected approaches from Bournemouth, Valencia, Sevilla FC, Malaga and Betis Sevilla.
Why? Because there is no club that would offer them the same salary that they are currently earning at San Siro. Milan have signed too many mediocre players over the last few years, offering them money that no one would have ever offered them again.
All transfer talks to bring in new faces have been put on hold as the club are lacking of financial resources to invest in new players. Milan could miss out on their transfer market if they won’t be able to sell their biggest money makers in the current transfer campaign. If this will happen, they should only blame themselves and not Lady Luck.
