Milan, Abate: "It was too easy to write us off. It's been too long since we last beat Juve"

The build-up to this weekend’s big Serie A clash between Milan & Juventus continues. The rossoneri are looking for their first win against the Old Lady since 2012 and the player who may well lead the team out on Saturday night, defender Ignazio Abate,  has been speaking to Sky Sport. He began by explaining that; “I have always believed in this group of players, there has been lots of criticism thrown at us but we have stayed together. We must beat Juventus on Saturday to avenge the Coppa Italia defeat last May”.

With his side second in the latest standings, Abate stated that; “We started very slowly and no-one believed in us but with hard work and humility, we are building the foundations here brick by brick and we don’t want to stop. The boss was right when he stated that we need to keep positive thoughts in our minds. We will see where we are around Christmas as this will be a clearer indication of our potential”.

Back to the weekend and Abate declared that; “We are meeting one of the best teams in Europe but in front of a capacity crowd at the San Siro we will have total self-belief. We’ve not won against Juve in our last eight meetings and the Coppa Italia defeat still hurts”.
