Mihajlovic on Milan's plight: 'Our strikers need to be more enterprising'
Though they've only lost one game in nine, the Rossoneri are coming off disappointing draws against Carpi and Verona, and recently played out a terse 0-0 home draw with Atalanta too.
Talk is rife that the former Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Bologna manager won't last past the season, if that, with the likes of Cesare Prandelli, Cristian Brocchi and Antonio Conte being slated to replace him.
Let's see what he said...
About Milan's past:
“I hope that Milan can repeat what the club has done in the past, when it won a number of cups and Scudetti”.
About Milan's current run of results:
“We’ve all talked about it, we lost four points against Carpi and Verona, we could be fourth right now. The season is long anyway, we’re united and we’re going down our path. The players and I are convinced that we can attain our objectives”.
"We’ve only lost one game since we played Napoli. We’ve lacked luck, and a bit of meanness over the past two games. We know what we have to do, and we’ll show it in our next games”.
“We’ve created a lot, we had 35 shots on goal against Carpi and Verona, but we only managed one goal. Our striker need to be more enterprising”.
On Silvio Berlusconi and Andrea Bertolacci's recent comments:
“I can’t answer, I don’t know what he said. Let’s talk about football”.
“I don’t know what he said, I’m calm and the players can see that every day”.
On tonight's game:
"The best formation we can deploy will be used tomorrow”.
On Milan’s lack of personality and his state of mind:
“I’m calm, I have faith in my work and I don’t let angst get a hold of me. We’re taking it one game at a time, we’ll see where we end up”.
“You should ask the players [about a supposed lack of personality]! I try to go into the dressing room as little as possible, I try and give the players as much freedom as possible”.
“I’ve always said that I don’t look for excuses or alibis. I don’t think that the players are looking for excuses, they only say what they feel. No-one is saying that what is happening is someone else’s fault. The only way to get out of this moment is to win. We need to believe in what we do”.
On Mario Balotelli and Luca Antonelli:
“Mario won’t play tomorrow. Antonelli has recovered and will be on the bench tomorrow”.
On Riccardo Montolivo being booed by the fans:
“The fans used to boo him when he was in Florence. I think he’s used to these situations. The fans have the right to whistle. We only need to cover our ears and only think about playing. If you can’t stand these things you should switch professions, but everyone at Milan has the personality to deal with them”.
On Keisuke Honda:
“He knows exactly what he needs to do to make my decisions difficult. He always played at the start, he’s a player we’re relying on. Then the time came when he played less. We’ll see if he plays tomorrow.”
