This wouldn’t be the only time that the football-crazy former prime minister has been suspected of doing this, putting a lot of pressure in 2003/2004 on then-manager Carlo Ancelotti to abandon the “Christmas Tree” 4-3-2-1 formation in order to play with two up front (“Milan play with two strikers!”).
However, the Serbian coach stood his ground, and denied any presidential influence on his decision-making.
“There’s absolutely no problem with president Berlusconi,” he told Mediaset Premium Sport.
“He knows his football and we have frank exchanges over the team.

Going back to the game, the former Fiorentina, Bologna and Sampdoria coach had some positive things to say about his team’s performance.
“”We played an excellent game, but stopped playing after we took the lead. That’s the moment when a team needs to control possession, instead we lost our composure.”
“I think we did well today, we were far more cohesive, the wingers ran their socks off and we defended well, I was hoping we wouldn’t concede but that’s how it went.
