Mazzola: Kondobia not ready for Serie A yet
Having failed to live up to expectations so far, the 22-year-old has come under fire by a few critics, though Mazzola was more measured.
“I don’t think Kondogbia is ready for Serie A football yet,” Mazzola told Tele Radio Stereo.
“Serie A may not offer the most attractive football in the world, but it’s still the toughest league to crack”.
Having cost the Nerazzurri €35 million, Kondogbia already has added Champions League experience under his belt as a Monaco player and a successful season in La Liga as the anchor to Sevilla’s midfield.
His troubles go hand-in-hand with Inter’s, as the Beneamata has picked up points without passing the eye test. It is far too early to rush to premature conclusions regarding Kondogbia, especially when you consider that he is being played out of position, as a box-to-box player rather as a defensive midfielder, a role taken by Felipe Melo.
Mazzola also had some interesting thoughts about another big summer acquistion, Croatian Ivan Perisic.
“Perisic, on the other hand, has all the quality, but has yet to grasp that big team mentality”.
Inter face Roma on Saturday evening at the Giuseppe Meazza.
