Mauri, Locatelli, Calabria: The future of AC Milan youngsters under Cristian Brocchi
Just think that the like of Riccardo Saponara, Pierre-Emerick Aumabyang and Matteo Darmian are products of the Rossoneri academy but lack of patience and confidence led the Serie A giants to sell them after a handful of games with the senior squad (only Aubameyang never made his debut).
Talking to the press ahead of tomorrow’s Carpi game, Cristian Brocchi shared his thoughts on the most promising players who could be regular team starters in a near future: José Mauri, Manuel Locatelli and Davide Calabria.
Brocchi did not work with Locatelli during his time as Milan Primavera head coach but the Italian tactician praised the promising midfielder during today’s press conference, revealing that he’d more than happy to give him some senior team game time whenever there will be a chance and if the player will prove to be ready for the big step.
Former Parma midfielder José Mauri was also backed by his manager today.
‘I can see myself in him’, Brocchi told journalists.
‘He is an incredible player who gives everything during trainings’. Mauri could start tomorrow’s Carpi clash in place of suspended Juraj Kucka.
As far as Davide Calabria is concerned, Brocchi said he found the young wingback a bit unmotivated due to his lack of playing time, though he still expects to recover the player’s spirit before the end of the season.
