Martial-James Rodriguez: Man Utd and Real Madrid reportedly consider swap deal

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United wantaway striker Anthony Martial, if rumours coming from the Sun On Sunday are to be believed. According to the British tabloid, the two clubs are considering  a swap deal involving the Frenchman and James Rodriguez who has been given short of game time by the Merengues’ boss Zinedine Zidane.

The Colombian attacking midfielder has only started two of the last ten LaLiga games and is clearly not happy with his game time at the Santiago Bernabeu. Martial is also extremely disappointed with his lack of game time under José Mourinho at the Old Trafford with only 801 minutes played in 14 appearances so far this season.

Both players used to play for AS Monaco before moving to their current clubs. Martian moved to the Old Trafford in a € 50 million deal in summer 2015, whilst James swapped the Stade Luis II for the Santiago Bernabeu hierarchy for € 75 million in summer 2014, after the World Cup.

If FIFA withdraws the two-window transfer ban imposed on Real Madrid by next summer, the two sides may finalize the swap deal once the current season ends.
