Marseille: Ravanelli throws his hat into the ring
In an interview with La Provence newspaper, former Italian striker Fabrizio Ravanelli has put himself forward to become the clubs next coach. The 47-year-old, who played 64 times for the French giants between 1998 and 2000, has become the latest name to be linked with one of the most pressurised jobs in French football.
With the club set to be taken over by new investors, Ravanelli has declared an interest in the role of trying to get one of the country’s biggest clubs back at the top of the table. The former Juventus striker has had very little managerial experience having been part of the youth team set-up in Turin from 2011-13. He then headed to Corsica to take charge of AC Ajaccio but was relieved of his duties after just five-months at the helm of a disastrous campaign. He has been out of the game since his dismissal from the islanders.
