Mario Lemina sent to Barcelona clinic, has until May to convince Juventus
The young Frenchman began life in Turin very well indeed, scoring in the Old Lady’s 2-1 defeat to Napoli early on this season.
Yet, since a poor performance against Sassuolo in October and a string of injuries, the former winner of the 2013 Under-20 World Cup (with France, Pogba, Kondogbia and Digne) has yet to return to the pitch.
A tendon inflammation is the latest of a string of injuries that could compromise the 22-year-old's future at Juventus, as well as put pressure on the defending Serie A champions to make a decision about him.
Management has made a key call, choosing to send him to Barcelona to complete his recovery, in the hope that he may return to the pitch to be able to play enough before April 30th.
Why that date? That’s the deadline of Juventus’ buyout clause, which would cost the club €9.5 million. Olympique Marseille have already charged Juventus €500.000 for the one-year-loan.
As it stands, Mario Lemina hasn’t convinced the club that he deserves to stay. Can he turn things around?
