Mancini: 'There is no such thing as a project in Italy', 'My Inter renewal isn't important'

Roberto Mancini had some... rather interesting things to say in today's press conference. The Inter coach spoke to the assembled press about a number of things, and our correspondent Pasquale Guarro was there to write it all down...

    How are you feeling?

I love doing my job and I try to always do my best. The only problem I've had is some knee pain after three hours' walking

    Icardi?

I can say that he's working hard, the other things don't regard me.

Juve are even better, is the gap widening?

I think Juventus are stronger, but they've lost a great player in Morata. But in football anything is possibly, anything can happen... but Juventus are above everyone else.

What do you make of Gabriel Jesus and Joao Mario? Are they the right fit for your system?

Gabriel Jesus is a young player with great potential, if he keeps up the qualities I see in him, he can become a great striker. Joao Mario is like Brozovic, he can play in a number of roles.

Would you renew your current deal?

    It's not important.

    Will Jovetic stay?

I don't know, but I say that one can always do better in their second year. Then again anything can happen.

    How can Banega be used?

First and foremost I'd like to point out that I don't favour muscular players, I use everyone I have at my disposal. Banega has an undefined role, he likes to roam everywhere, he's tactically anarchic but has great character, quality and charisma.

Both [director of sport] Ausilio and your deals are expiring, are you committed to this project?

Everyone uses that work, but there never is a project, not a real or a serious one anyway. They last 3-4 years at most, when clubs need to start again. Juve needed four years to go back to winning ways.
