Mancini on Juventus showdown: 'enough is enough'
“Inter haven’t beaten Juventus at home since 2010? Well, enough’s enough: it’s been too long!” the former Manchester City gaffer told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Beating Juventus would be a good coup, and an important achievement. It’s the Derby d’Italia, it’ll surely be a fun evening for sport, involving two great teams”.
Were they to win, Inter would reach 19 points in 8 games, their best start to the season since they won the Treble under Jose Mourinho in 2009-2010.
With the Nerazzurri’s last home game ending in a catastrophic 4-1 defeat to league leaders Fiorentina, some questions have been asked of the former Manchester City coach’s tactical approach.
“I’ll prepare this game as I always do.
“It’s a historic fixture, its importance automatically motivates the players. The last few ties have been made unique by all the controversy surrounding Calciopoli… games like these come with a lot of pressure.”
Mancini also had some good news for Inter fans with regards to the injured Geoffrey Kondogbia, as well as the recovering Stefan Jovetic and the struggling Adem Ljajic.
“Kondogbia will be back.
“Am I happy that Jovetic didn’t play against Montenegro? I’ll be even happier if he makes it on Sunday.
“I didn’t see Ljajic play at international level, but I have no problem with him. I hope he fits in as soon as possible, he needs time. I definitely believe in him, otherwise I wouldn’t have asked Inter to sign him!”
