Manchester United, Official: Mourinho escapes with one-game touchline ban
The Football Association has announced that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will only serve a one-game touchline ban effective immediately, for his actions towards match referee Jon Moss in last weekend’s 1-1 home Premier League draw against West Ham United. Mourinho lashed out at a water bottle after Paul Pogba was booked for diving. This means that the Portuguese tactician will be missing from the dugout for tonight’s EFL Cup quarter-final against the same opposition at Old Trafford.
Mourinho admitted to the FA’s charge of improper conduct and was subsequently fined £16,000. This is his second dismissal of the season after seeing red against Burnley on October 29, for which he also received a one-match ban and a fine of £8,000. In a season filled with controversy, the “Special One” was also fined £50,000 for comments made about referee Anthony Taylor prior to his teams trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on October 17.
