Manchester United are lying in wait to lure Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford next summer.

According to reports in The Express today, the Red Devils will make a move for the 29-year-old Uruguayan should he fail to agree a new deal in the French capital. The Ligue 1 champions are believed to have offered the player a three-year extension to his current deal which expires in 2018, but Cavani himself is stalling and a summer exit could be imminent.
 

Contract talks have been in progress for the past few months without an agreement being reached and United boss Jose Mourinho would love to reunite the player with former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The two players formed a devastating partnership in the French capital and Cavani would be seen as the long-term replacement for the 35-year-old Swede who is likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer of 2018.
