Man Utd crisis: Mourinho blames Van Gaal for Red Devils' poor results
According to today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Special One has confided to his closest friends that his players are still ‘trapped’ in Louis Van Gaal’s playing style, which is like a ‘straightjacket’.
Mourinho is said to believe that Manchester United players can’t understand his ideas as they are still trying to keep a sterile ball possession like under the Dutch boss, instead of making pacey counterattacks.
Van Gaal is considered one of Mourinho’s mentors as the Portuguese tactician had been in charge as Van Gaal’s assistant coach at Barecelona from 1997 to 2000.
Despite Mourinho’s thoughts, stats of the first part of the season condemn the Special One and his lads: Manchester United have ran less kilometres than any other Premier League side so far and new signing Pogba is the player with the most shot so far (13) but has yet to find the net in the second Manchester United spell in his career, not to mention that the Red Devils sit in 7th place in the Premier League table, six points behind table leaders Manchester City.
