Man City looking for Kompany's successor, Bonucci and Laporte on the cards?
Manchester City could well be back in the market for Leonardo Bonucci, the Guardian write.
The Premier League pretenders have slowed down somewhat recently, culminating in a 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last night, one that exposed their defensive weakenesses.
Despite spending in excess of 50m on Everton defender John Stones this summer, Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled to find some balance at the back, and the latest injury to Vincent Kompany only adds more uncertainty to their plight.
The likes of Bacary Sagna, Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala and Aleksandr Kolarov have all been tried in that position, as well as midfielder Fernandinho.
As the Manchester paper confirms, the Citizens were very interested in nabbing either Juventus defender Bonucci or Aymeric Laporter of Athletic Bilbao.
With an upcoming AGM set to be held in Abu Dhabi, City could well decide to make another splash in the defenders’ marker. Could they finally nab Pep’s muse?
