Lukaku scores more than Ibra and CR7, but there’s no space for him in big clubs

Romelu Lukaku, one of the most talked strikers of the summer, netted a treble in yesterday’s Everton clash against Sunderland.

The Belgian striker had been linked with moving to Juventus and Chelsea in the previous transfer window, but Everton’s € 75 million asking price, scared all potential bidders that eventually decided not to invest such an ‘exaggerate’ sum on the former Anderlecht and West Brom man.

Lukaku put an end to an 1139 minutes goal drought yesterday night and his inconsistency is probably one of the reasons why big clubs prefer to invest bags of money in to buy other players. In addition to that, Lukaku’s only spell in a big club so far was a total disappointment. The 23-year-old striker could only rack up 10 appearances between 2011 and 2014 at Stamford Bridge, scoring no goals.

The Belgium International, however, is the youngest player to have scored 50 Premier League goals. His figures with Belgium national team are also pretty good, having scored 19 goals in 51 games. Lukaku, however, could only manage three goals in the last World Cup and European championship campaigns played for Belgium, a team full of quality but short of personality.

Juventus made contact with Everton last summer, before meeting Gonzalo Higuain’s € 90 million price-tag, Chelsea will make new attempts in January or next summer. Meantime, Lukaku has better figures that Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo at his same age.

The Belgian has 122 goals in his career so far, only Messi and Neymar had scored more than him at his age.
