Liverpool see off Juventus in battle for Dahoud
The Liverpool Echo mirrors reports from German newspaper Express that the Anfield giants have beaten off competition from Juventus for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.
The 20-year-old Syrian born player has been the talk of European football after some scintillating displays in the Bundesliga. After a chase that began at the start of last summer, the Echo states that the finishing line is in sight for Jurgen Klopp’s team with a reported £26 million January bid imminent.
Dahoud has made 54 appearances for his current employer, scoring five goals and providing 11 assists. He is now a regular member of the German Under 21 squad and first-team coach Joachim Low has even hinted that a full international debut may not be too far away.
Juventus have been searching for midfield reinforcements since the departure of Paul Pogba in the summer; despite the track for Dahoud now seemingly closed, the Old Lady will look to console themselves with the arrival of both Bentancur and Kessie at the end of the current campaign.
