Lazio, here's the renewal of de Vrij
Rome journal Il Tempo writes that Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij is close to extending his stay in the Eternal City. The 24-year-old has been at the club since 2014 when he arrived from Feyenoord. Debilitating injuries however, have seen him only make 37 appearances during this time. Sporting Director Igli Tare is more than aware of his immense talent when he is fully fit and for this reason, is ready to offer the Dutchman an extension until 2021 with a salary of €2 million net. The contract is also believed to include a buy-out clause of around €35-40 million to try to freeze out a lot of interest from Serie A and from back in his homeland.
De Vrij is a seasoned international with Holland having made 30 appearances for his country since making his full international debut in 2012. His performances in the 2014 World Cup, which prompted Lazio to make a move, earned him a place in the FIFA Team of the Tournament.
