Lazio had offered contract extension to Klose says Tare

Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare has revealed that Lazio had tried to convince outgoing striker Miroslav Klose to remain at Lazio for two more seasons, offering the former Germany International a contract extension.

“We have been criticized because we haven’t extended Klose’s contract, but when he arrived they criticized us because we had signed a ‘finished’ player. We knew he is a great pro and we knew he could have been an added value for us.”

“We gave a lot to him and he gave a lot to us. He deserves a lot. I went to talk to him before the Sparta Praga clash proposing him a two-year contract extension and the possibility to become a key figure in Lazio’s control room at the end of his playing career.”

“He replied that he was tempted, but that the time was come for him to put an end to this extraordinary adventure. I insisted may times after that meeting, but he replied that he preferred to go back to his native country Germany.”
