Latest updates on AC Milan’s defender chase

AC Milan are looking for at least one new central defender as Alessio Romagnoli and Cristian Zapata are the only two reliable centre-backs that Vincenzo Montella can rely on.

The rossoneri have ‘booked’ Mateo Musacchio. The Argentinean defender has a verbal agreement with the San Siro outifit that have also agreed the player’s transfer fee with Villareal. Trouble is, AC Milan can’t complete any signing before the Chinese consortium completes the club’s takeover.

Alvaro Arbeloa has also agreed terms with the rossoneri, but his arrival has been blocked by the next club’s CEO Nicholas Ganchikoff who believes Arbeloa is too old to join the club, being the Spanish defender 33. The former Real Madrid man would join AC Milan as a free agent.

Martin Caceres is another name on the rossoneri’s shopping list. Calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that Adriano Galliani has recently made contact with the player’s agent Daniel Fonseca and a contract offer could be made soon, especially if Musacchio won’t join the Serie A giants.
