Juventus want to make Cavani their highest-paid star, and it still may not be enough

Juventus want to make Cavani their highest-paid star, and it still may not be enough

Edinson Cavani's recent declarations leave little doubt: he wants to Paris this summer, a message his entourage has (and will) communicate to top brass from here to June.

The Uruguayan star was recently angered by Coach Laurent Blanc's choice to leave him on the bench against Nice... and to throw on youth Hervin Ongenda in his place on 69 minutes. This was against Nice, in a 4-1 rout, in a league that has already been won. Oh, and rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted an incredible hat-trick.

The 29-year-old has also revealed that the interest coming from Italy has "please him", hinting that a return to a country that he misses would be very welcome.

This is where Juventus step in: they've relentlessly pursued Cavani, talked to his (influential) family, spoken to his agent and to Cavani himself. Everyone seems to be happy... but there are issues.

Firstly, all of Europe will be competing for Cavani, from Chelsea to the Mancunian sides, to Atletico Madrid. Can Juventus compete with their offers?

Secondly, PSG don't like Juventus after the Turinese side snatched Kingsley Coman from right under their noses, so discounts aren't very likely.
40/45 million will surely be the minimum.

The other sides will also be less likely to baulk at the
8 million (plus bonuses!) Cavani is asking for. We'd previously reported that that was Juventus were willing to offer.... which in reality is more in the region of 5.5/ 6 million. The first figure is the Bianconeri's maximum cap (excluding bonuses), so it'll be interesting to see if they'll bend their own rules when the likes of Pogba make around 4 million, and Dybala is set to be offered something similar.

The Turinese side does, however, have selling points: a winning team, a good European reputation, the promise that Cavani can play a huge role, the Uruguayan's fondness for Italy, and the fact that Juventus are going places.

    Will it be enough?
