Juventus, Marotta confirms interest in Chelsea target N’Zonzi
The club’s CEO talked to Premium Sport on Sunday afternoon ahead of Juventus’ 3-1 defeat to Genoa confirming that a possible transfer of the 27-year-old midfielder could be on the cards.
“N’Zonzi is a great player, we’ve been scouting him, but we are only focused on the pitch at the moment.”
“Watching potential new signings is our job and our duty, but we should never forget that we already have a great squad and that every player we have deserves to play for Juventus.”
N’Zonzi is under contract with Sevilla until 2019 and has a € 30 million release clause included in his contract with the LaLiga giants. Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are Juventus’ main competitor for the signing of the French midfielder in January as the Blues are also being linked with welcoming the player’s services given the possible departure of Cesc Fabregas.
Marotta was also asked his thoughts on Miralem Pjanic who, despite today’s goal, has failed to impress for the Old Lady so far this season.
“We are happy with him because his qualities and values match Juventus’. He’s not performing as we expected, but he’s settling in well. He’s a good player but having a good impact for Juventus is always difficult. We are happ because he undoubtedly has quality.”
