Juventus urge to sign midfield reinforcement, Allegri needs a new tactical plan
Think about their midfield two years ago, when they qualified for the Champions League final: Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio and Vidal. Today, only the Italian midfielder is left, but will be back in more than one month time due to a knee-injury he picked up at the end of last season.
Sami Khedira can’t play three games per week at a very high level, Miralem Pjanic has yet to find a well-defined position on the pitch. Lemina, Asamoah, Hernanes, Sturaro and Mandragora have yet to prove they are Juventus material. They are definitely good back-ups but the bianconeri can’t rely on them for big games this season.
Max Allegri has to find a way to play all his midfielders in the best position possible, waiting for the return of Marchisio. Marotta and Paratici, meantime, have to shortlist some midfielders that can raise Juventus’ level from January.
New attempts will be made for Matuidi and Witsel, but despite having conducted a magnificent summer transfer window, the Old Lady should have already have in the team a quality midfielder who could fill the boots of departed Pogba and injured Marchisio.
