Juventus and an opportunity for Schweinsteiger
Reports in The Sun that German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will rescind his contract with Manchester United may present an opportunity for Juventus to pick up another world class midfielder on a free-transfer.
The English journal claims that the 32-year-old will receive a £10 million golden handshake from the Red Devils if an alternative club shows interest. The 2014 World Cup winner is believed to be owed around £18 million in wages with two years remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford.
The bianconeri have an excellent track record of bringing in top-quality talent for little outlay; Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba are two of the stand-out names with current midfielder Sami Khedira coming in on a free-transfer from Real Madrid in 2015. Schweinsteiger is currently earning £180,000 a week in Manchester and has yet to figure in new boss Jose Mourinho’s plans. There are strong reports suggesting that he could be in the squad for Sunday’s trip to Swansea City.
