Does Juve really need an attacker? Afellay is the right name
Higuain, Aguero, Rossi, Vucinic, Zarate, Tevez: names for the Juventus attack are many, even if no real negotiations been launched. Marotta and Paratici are exploring the market, ready to make the right offers to the top players that can make the leap in quality. But does it have to be a striker? At the moment Juventus has six strikers in the team: Matri and Quagliarella, potentially the top attacking pair, plus Del Piero, Toni, Iaquinta and Amauri. With the last two presumably leaving Turin,Conte would have four strikers for two competitions (League and Italy Cup), a sufficient number to cope with a seasonal maximum of 43 games.
Juventus has a large budget, but the imperative is "do not waste". That's why it should be invested in a great midfielder rather than a striker. Sanchez remains the number one goal because, despite being a striker, Conte’s tactical idea is that he play as a left winger. For that role the names circulating are Bastos (advantage), Nani, Elia, Menez, Farfan and Vargas, but there is a player who could make the case for Juventus, at a good price: Ibrahim Afellay. Before his move to Barcelona last January, he was considered one of the most interesting wingers of Europe and remains, despite the bench in Spain, an attractive player. He costs 3 million euro, he could leave this summer for 8, because Guardiola has already shown that he does not want him. The Dutch player wants a team where he can play with continuity, in view of the European Championship. And Juventus might be the right solution.
