Juve, from Spain: Pepe asks for a renewal but no agreement with Real Madrid
Juventus are hot on the heels of Real Madrid defender Pepe. The 33-year-old Portuguese international is out of contract at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer and the bianconeri are monitoring developments with interest.
Reports today in Spanish journal As claim that the players has asked for a two-year renewal in the Spanish capital but that Real themselves have not sanctioned any agreement. Juventus have an excellent track record of picking up players on a free-transfer; Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba and Sami Khedira all arrived in Turin without troubling the clubs transfer kitty and Pepe could be the next to follow this illustrious band of players.
Having joined Los Blancos in 2007, Pepe has made over 200 appearances for the club but his time in Madrid has not been without its controversies with his career also being blighted by injuries. Despite being born in Brazil, he’s also made 78 appearances for his adopted country of Portugal culminating in last summer’s European Championship success.
