JUST IN Milan captain Montolivo out for 5-6 months

As expected, Riccardo Montolivo will miss a lot of football, and probably won’t be a factor at all this season.

AC Milan released an official communique’ earlier today confirming that the captain will be out “for five or six months”.

This is hardly surprising for an ACL tear, which the former Fiorentina man sustained two days ago during Italy’s friendly draw (1-1) with Spain.

Montolivo had fractured his tibia in the summer of 2014, so this is a doubly cruel break.

    Here is the announcement:

AC Milan announces that Riccardo Montolivo underwent medical surgery this morning for the reconstrucion of his left knee anterior cruciate ligament.

The surgeon Professor Doctor Herbert Schoenhuber is satisfied with the result of the surgery.

The recovery time will be 5 to 6 months, unless complications arise.
