EXCLUSIVE Romano: Inter to battle Juve for Embolo IF Morata & Icardi leave
The 19-year-old striker agreed to join the Old Lady last summer, but the Bianconeri side failed to close the deal with Basel, Calciomercato.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
According to Romano, lot of Premier League clubs (including Chelsea) and Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg are interested to sign Embolo, but Juventus will try to sign him at the end of the season in case Simone Zaza and Alvaro Morata will leave the Stadium.
The Italian has requested to leave the club as the wants to get more playing time ahead of EURO 2016. While the latter is very likely to rejoin Real Madrid next summer as the Merengues can exercise a € 30 million buy-back clause at the end of the current campaign.
Revenues from Zaza and Morata’s sales would allow the Old Lady to offer € 30 million to secure Embolo’s services.
In the meanwhile, Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir has refused to rule out Mauro Icardi’s departure, though he admitted that any potential buyer would have to offer big money to secure the 22-year-old’s services.
How much exactly? Romano believes that an offer in the region of € 40 million might convince Inter to sell last year’s Serie A top-scorer.
In case the Argentinean will leave Inter at the end of the season, Embolo is considered to be the natural heir of Icardi at San Siro.
