Inter & the problem of financial fair-play: Candreva risks missing the Europa League, the details
The financial fair-play regulations imposed on Inter by UEFA could have an immediate impact on their European hopes this season. In short, the nerazzurri need to sell players to the tune of €25 million to balance the books or risk new signing Antonio Candreva being excluded from their Europa League squad.
CANDREVA AT RISK:
As the Corriere della Sera reports, Inter can register a total of 22 players for the competition and the list has to be submitted no later than the 14th of September. The problem is that because the Italian midfielder was brought in for €25 million, the club must either sell players for the same amount or risk having to omit him from their UEFA squad list. The same applies if they bring in Joao Mario; should the Portuguese arrive for €45 million, then players will have to be sold or omitted for this amount. Inter must resolve this problem quickly, Marcelo Brozovic’s reported move to Chelsea is a step in the right direction but with clubs aware of their plight, it may be difficult for the nerazzurri to get the cash that they desperately need.
