Inter: the dream remains Verratti but Chelsea lie in wait
The Corriere dello Sport claims that in January, Inter will not be making a marquee signing due to Financial Fair-Play restrictions. Next summer however, new owners, The Suning Group will want to flex their muscles and bring in some high-quality reinforcements. With qualification to next season’s Champions League looking increasingly unlikely, just who the nerazzurri will be able to tempt will be another matter entirely.
The dream remains Italian international midfielder Marco Verratti; the 24-year-old, who has been in the French capital for four years with Paris Saint-Germain, has been heavily linked with a move back to his homeland although the player himself has always been at pains to state just how happy he is in France. The journal has also stated today that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has reiterated his desire to try to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
His national team coach Giampiero Ventura, has also given Verratti an incentive to consider returning to Italy explaining yesterday that the player is not being tested enough in Ligue 1. An intriguing summer lies ahead for the man from Pescara.
