Inter target Sabatini set to sell EPL targets Sanabria, Paredes, Umar!
By announcing on Saturday evening that he will resign at the end of the season, the Roma sporting director has once again out his club in the media spotlight.
According to La Repubblica, Coach Luciano Spalletti is furious at this declaration, whilst numerous reports claim that a Serie A rival is after Sabatini... Inter!
Why the Nerazzurri would want to replace Piero Ausilio - who seems to be doing a very good job so far - is beyond many of us here in the English team.
This morning's Corriere dello Sport writes that the Lupa could either look internally for a replacement... or to Marcello Carli (Empoli) and Manuel Gerolin (Palermo).
What seems even more ridiculous is that Roma are likely set to sell promising youngster Antonio Sanabria, Leandro Paredes and Sadiq Umar in order to balance the books. The Gazzetta dello Sport says that Sadiq is in Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund's sights, whilst Sanabria (who has netted a stunning 11 La Liga goals for Sporting Gijon this season) is being followed by Atletico Madrid.
Leandro Paredes, who is currently doing very well for himself on loan to Empoli, is appreciated by Manchester City and Liverpool.
What about Roma's current crop? Major disappointment Seydou Doumbia is set to return, alongside Juan Iturbe and probably Adem Ljajic. Edin Dzeko will also be evaluated.
Call us crazy, but wouldn't it be better to sell most of the above (especially Dzeko, but not Ljajic) and keep those three youngsters? Paredes and Sanabria have proved they can shine on the big stage, and have yet to be at Spalletti's disposal. Umar looked very promising in the little time he got under Rugi Garcia.
