Inter, return to the idea of Garay for the defence
Its took new Inter coach Frank de Boer less than a week to realise that he needs a top quality defender for his team. Miranda already has that quality but both Murillo and Ranocchia have not convinced the Dutchman. Over the past few days various names have been circulated but the one that stands out is Ezequiel Garay, the 29-year-old Argentine from Zenit St Petersburg.

The player’s profile is well known to Inter, who have been following him for some time now. Garay has the credentials that seem to fit the bill from being an international veteran with his country to having represented both Real Madrid and Benfica. His Spanish passport also makes him an attractive proposition which would keep the club’s one non-EU place open for the possible arrival of Gabigol. The mail obstacle is the fee; the Russian club have stated that they will not take anything less than €25 million for their player whose contract expires in 2019.
