Inter: Pioli warns Milan; "We want it to be our derby"
Sunday is derby day in Milan and new Inter coach Stefano Pioli has lit the blue-touch paper by issuing a statement of intent. Using Facebook, the ex-Lazio boss declared that; “We must make sure we go into it in the right frame of mind, highly focused and determined, because we want this to be our derby”.
It’s a call to arms for all Inter fans as the team looks to get its season back on track after a chaotic start to the new campaign which saw Dutchman Frank de Boer come and go before all the leaves had fallen from the trees, leaving the nerazzurri cut adrift from the Champions League contenders. Sporting Director Ausilio recently claimed that a top-four finish remains the club’s objective and what better way to begin the renaissance than with a derby-day win over their city rivals. After weeks of uncertainty, the Pioli era is about to start and every Inter fan keeps their fingers crossed that this time; the club has the right man at the helm.
