Inter, Pioli: A look to his former club for defensive reinforcements
Inter are looking for a full-back and in January, new coach Stefano Pioli will go into the transfer market to do just that. With D’Ambrosio, Nagatomo and Santon all failing to convince, his attention has turned back to his former club and in particular, Serbian international Dušan Basta.
The 32-year-old has always impressed his former coach during their time together in the Italian capital and it’s unlikely he will be disappointed by the new interest for the new man in charge at the nerazzurri. The problem however, will be Lazio President Claudio Lotito, who is unlikely to sell the player without a fight.
Inter will now consider their next plan of attack and try to negotiate a price that will be pleasing to the biancocelesti. Meanwhile, Pioli prepares to make his debut on the bench in tonight’s big derby game against Milan. All thoughts on Basta therefore, will be temporarily put to one side.
