2016 Claudio Villa - Inter
Inter: 50 million for Cavani, ultimatum of Napoli for Icardi and Arsenal..
The transfer market re-opens for Inter. Last week, during their International Champions Cup defeat to PSG, Corriere dello Sport claims that the nerazzurri carried out a survey with the French club on the availability of striker Edinson Cavani. A €50 million offer was reportedly made to the Ligue 1 champions but was immediately rejected.
ICARDI
With their interest now confirmed in Brazilian striker Gabigol, it’s clear that Inter are still not 100% convinced they will be able to keep hold of current frontman Mauro Icardi. Representatives of the 23-year-old will today travel to London to speak with Arsenal, the latest players in this expensive game of transfer market roulette. Napoli meanwhile, have issued a take it or leave it message to the nerazzurri that €70 million is their maximum bid (or €50 million plus Manolo Gabbiadini). The vesuviani want a definitive answer in the next 72-96 hours otherwise they will look to plan B with Bacca, Jovetic and Lacazette all in the notebook .
MANCINI
Also within the next 72 hours, there could be another meeting between coach Roberto Mancini and representatives of the Suning Group. The 52-year-old had been hoping the situation over his future would have been resolved by now but talks that were earmarked for Friday of last week, failed to materialise. La Gazzetta dello Sport is confident that Mancini will ultimately fail to get his renewal at this time with the new owners waiting to see how the season develops before discussing his future. The pink journal also believes that the former Sampdoria legend will attempt to seize the initiative effectively backing his bosses into a corner and forcing their hand.
