Infantino: 'A World cup with 48 teams, here are the benefits'
Fifa president Gianni Infantino spoke to Radio 1, here is what he said: "A World cup with 48 or with 40 clubs, this is something we have to try and make a reality. Football has evolved and is now very strong in many different countries and this is why we have to try and include the most teams possible. Uefa went from having 16 teams to 24 teams for the Euro cup, this is something that everyone is looking at. This is something that would help grow football world wide. The decision? It should arrive by January, we are working on it. We will present our new ideas to the council and we also first have to discuss it with the clubs".
