AC Milan regret Merkel's transfer
It was the past, it will be the future, but wil not be this Milan. Landed in Genoa in co-ownership as part of the negotiations for El Shaarawy with the Rossoneri, Alexander Merkel is one of the best in the begining of the season. The protagonist against Lecce, the best in Turin against Juventus, the German-born midfielder has become a staple in Genoa that cannot do without him.
Despite Allegri wanting him to return to AC Milan in the next market window, Merkel will remain in Liguria until the end of the season. This was confirmed by his agent Oscar Damiani: "If Allegri wants him back in his team I think it's a good for the player. Merkel, however, will not move from Genoa in January". Merkel is co-owned and Galliani will have to invest a sum close to 4 million euro to bring him back to Milan.
An investment that could have been avoided, which denotes a hasty valuation of Merkel. Last season the 19 year-old German showed that he could be a permanent player in the first team and this year and could have found find space in midfield where apart from Aquilani and Seedorf, there is little quality.. Arsenal let Wilshere (1992) play, Barcelona Thiago Alcantara (1991), Borussia Dortmund Mario Gotze (1992), why didn’t Milan use Merkel?
