Icardi: Mancini has helped me grow as a player

Having gone through an up-and-down season at Inter Milan, Argentine forward Mauro Icardi spoke of how Coach Roberto Mancini has helped him develop as a player.

“I've changed a lot”, Maurito told InterChannel, “in my first year here I was different, now my role is closer to the role I had at Sampdoria, when I did the dirty work, was given bad balls and was asked to help the team”.

“Mancini always tells me: 'goals are a reward for helping the team'; before, I only ever thought about scoring”.

Icardi netted 16 times in the past season, six less than the 22 he managed in 2014/2015. Despite being snubbed by Argentina Coach Gerardo Martino, the 23-year-old is the centre of negotiations with Inter over his selection in this summer's Olympic Games.
