Hyndman: The Pirlo of the USA for Milan
These are hard times at Milan but the best way to approach these difficulties is to look to the future and to players who are young and eager to impress. The area that the rossoneri are lacking in is the midfield and a new name that comes onto the horizon is an American living in London.
We are talking about Emerson Hyndman, American midfielder from Fulham. The English press reports that Milan have shown strong interest in the 20-year-old and with the player out of contract in the summer and with no plans to sign an extension, he would be available to take on a free transfer.
Hyndman is a player who demonstrates attributes that would be better suited to the Camp Nou rather than Craven Cottage. At one metre 70, he patrols in front of the back-four and his ability to create attacks and his accurate passing makes him a player to be taken seriously.
Born in Dallas, he arrived in London at just 15-years-old, coming through the youth ranks at the West London club before making his first-team debut in 2014. The man who gave him his chance, German coach Felix Magath likened him to Andrea Pirlo and whilst this glowing comparison may be a little optimistic, there are qualities on show that reminds observers of the Italian legend.
Having played for his country at Under 20 level, he has since made an impression on first-team coach Jurgen Klinsmann who stated that; “It is phenomenal, in his first training session he has played as if he had always been with us". Fulham would like to keep hold of him but it seems this summer he is looking for that step-up in quality. Teams such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Celtic have made note, Milan may have to act quick if they want to get their man.
