How Higuain has already transformed Paulo Dybala

How Higuain has already transformed Paulo Dybala

A shirt number it’s not important to define a player. Juventus wanted Dybala to pick the number ten earlier this summer, though La Joya opted to keep the good old number 21. One, however, would confuse the Argentine’s playing style in the Sassuolo game with the performance of a proper attacking midfielder, a true number ten.

The former Palermo ace scored 23 goals in all competition last term. A strike partner like Mario Mandzukic brought out Dybala’s features of pure striker. Only a few would expect such impressive figures in terms of goals scored during his first season at the club, but Mandzukic ability of opening spaces in the opponents’ defences helped Dybala to score more goals than what one would have expected in the 2015-16 campaign.

As you can see by Opta’s touch-map, Dybala only touched the ball six times inside Sassuolo’s penalty area yesterday, but was almost everywhere on the pitch for the whole game. He provided the assist for Higuain’s opener and almost netted the 3-0 who was plundered by Pjanic instead.

How Higuain has already transformed Paulo Dybala

Dybala, 22, has yet to score one goal in official games this season so far, but the understanding with Higuain is already at the highest pick, making the Argentine duo one of the most exciting striker partners around Europe. Juventus invested € 130 million to buy them both. Dybala arrived at the J Stadium in summer 2015 for € 40 million, Higuain only a few months ago for € 90 million.

La Joya’s new position on the pitch allows Allegri to deploy different tactical solutions and even improve Juventus’ attacking potential which seems having no limits now.
