Hernanes: ‘I am not the new Pirlo’

The Juvetus newcomer Anderson Hernanes de Carvalho Viana Lima, or simply Hernanes, has released an interview to the the Brazilian website superesportes.com talking about his recent  Juventus Stadium arrival as well as his previous disappointing spell with Inter.

“My Inter exit was surprising. It all happened the day before the deadline. I am happy now and I think that both Inter and Juve are satisfied with the deal too.”

Before he signed with Juve, the former Lazio has never played one single Champions League game.

“Playing in Champions League is a dream come true. I am feeling good both physically and mentally and I think that this is the right stage of my career to play this competition.”
Expectations on the Brazil International are high at the Juventus Stadium after that last year both Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal left the club.

I am not going to be the new Andrea Pirlo here. He is a true icon of Italian football as well as a Juventus’ legend. It would be a mistake to compare myself with him. I am happy I am going to play in his same role, but I am not Pirlo and I want to write my own story here.”

There is little doubt that the 30 year old did not blaze a trail during his spell at Inter and Hernanes is blaming injuries for his mediocre form at San Siro.

“Before I moved to Inter I have never suffered so many injuries as I did with the Nerazzurri. I think that my physical problems massively influenced my performances. I failed to find the same consistency that I used to have during my spell at Lazio.”
