Hart: 'Mistakes can happen, Buffon and Donnarumma are great keepers'

Joe Hart seems to be very positive about his move to Italy, and waxed lyirical about two Italian goalkeepers, Gianluigi Buffon and Gigi Donnarumma.

“Buffon is a great goalkeeper, along with Neuer and young Donnarumma," the former Manchester City man told a packed press conference in Turin today, “my inspiration is David Seaman, he’s a friend and he gives me advice”.

He also seems to be fitting in well in Italy:

“I’m learning Italian. I’m very happy to be here and I’m learning the words that a goalkeeper needs,” Hart confirmed, “I have a good Italian teacher who helps me to learn Italian and communicate with everyone. I’ll be able to do it”.

Despite making a mistake on his Torino debut (a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta), the Shrewsbury native appeared confident ahead of his home debut against Empoli this weekend.

My mistake? They can happen. The Coach has received me well and I’m working hard to improve day-by-day.

“I’ll always give everything, until the end of the season. I’m training and I’m fine, I’m starting to understand what Mihajlovic wants.

The England goalkeeper also seems to have accepted his fate at Manchester City, where he was benched in favour of Willy Caballero, before the Sky Blues also signed Claudio Bravo of Barcelona.

“City gave me the opportunity to choose and I did that, now I’ll work to do well in Serie A with the Granata.

“City gave me so many opportunities, but I’m at Torino to improve.”

“I was happy at Manchester City for 10 years and now I’m here. It’s normal for a player to change and I’m grateful to Torino for giving me the experience to test myself in Serie A.

"I was in a difficult situation in Manchester and Torino gave me the opportunity to play as I wanted to."

Finally, the City loanee had something fascinating to say about English goalkeepers in Italy, probably motivated both by his experience and Wojciech Szczesny’s:

“I’m glad to be here and I don’t know why there have been so few English goalkeepers in Italy. I’m here and it’s a great opportunity for my career.

“There are big differences with England: the food is good, it’s healthier and I’m glad to be here.”
