Gandini-Roma: "Galliani will stay at Milan"
Umberto Gandini has left Milan after 23 years to join Roma. The now former foreign minister for the rossonero told Corriere della Sera that; “On the occasion of Roma-Milan on December 12, I will do what an ex player does when he return to a former club and not celebrate as a mark of respect. I never thought I’d work for another Italian club but this opportunity makes me feel proud because it recognises my professionalism”.
Asked if he had seen the writing on the wall at Milan when the new owners came in, he replied; “I asked myself the same question, but my desire to continue to expand my career, led me to this decision. Milan has come to the end of an era, there will be new leaders but Milan is Milan; it has a DNA and a culture that no-one can own”. When the subject moved on to his old friend Adriano Galliani, he stated that; “He will stay at Milan, he’s one of the biggest directors in Italy. It was he who brought me to Milan in the first place”.
Galliani himself had some special words to say for Gandini stating that; “We did everything together, I’m glad he’s been given this opportunity at Roma”.
