Galliani: "Milan have spent a lot, we expect more"

Adriano Galliani has fired a shot across Sinisa Mihajlovic’s bow.

Rumoured to be on the verge of the sack if he didn’t turn things round quickly, the Serbian arguably earned a reprieve by earning a point (1-1) against in-form opponents Torino.

Galliani’s words, however, seemed to indicate that more was expected from the man who led Sampdoria to 7th place last season, though in fairness Milan’s vice-president did sugarcoat his warning.

“The season’s only just begun, I’m sure we’ll recover soon." Galliani told Mediaset Premium after Milan's draw at the Stadio Olimpico.

“We’ve made some major investments, but our first fixtures were littered with tough games against talented opposition. However we were expecting more, we’ve made some key investments and believe we have a good team.”

Galliani’s intention seems to be to keep Mihajlovic on his toes, as he immediately went on to say that the Serbian’s job was safe.

“The Torino game isn’t key to the manager’s future. Every game is important, let’s not get carried away, the season’s only just begun. We’ve played prestigious opposition and been on the road five times [out of eight]. I’m sure we’ll recover.”

Galliani's words come just two weeks after Milan's humiliating 4-0 reverse at home against Napoli, which reportedly left President Silvio Berlusconi furious and tempted to pull the trigger.
