From Spain: Chelsea lead the race to sign Higuain

Today’s edition of AS reports that Atletico Madrid are not in pole position to sign Gonzalo Higuain as Premier League giants Chelsea are leading the race for the Argentinean striker’s signature.

According to the Spanish paper, incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants to use the proceedings of Diego Costa’s sale to the Colchoneros to make a crazy offer for the former Real Madrid man.

Higuain netted 36 goals in 35 games last season breaking the all-time Serie A scoring record that belonged to Gunnar Nordahl. The Argentinean ace moved to Napoli from Real Madrid on a € 40 million deal from Real Madrid in 2013.

He has netted 71 goals in 104 games with the partenopei and the Serie A club are only open to sell im for the release clause which is set to € 94 million.

Chelsea have just announced the signing of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille but the Belgian striker won't be the only striker joining the Stamford Bridge this summer.
