From Spain: Allegri asks Juventus to make January bid for Barcelona star
The Croatian midfielder is on Juventus’ shortlist for the winter transfer window, when the Old Lady will have to sign at least one new midfielder after failing to sign the likes of Axel Witsel and Blaise Matuidi last summer.
Allegri think extremely high of the Croatia International, so much so he has asked Marotta to make an approach for the former Sevilla man who, however, is a regular starter for the blaugrana.
Rakitic netted the opener in the 2015 Champions League final played by Juventus and Barcelona which saw the blaugrana beating the Old Lady for 3-1.
Rakitic has two goals in nine appearances with the Nou Camp outfit so far and despite the arrivals of Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes last summer, he hasn’t lost his spot in the starting XI which is why it will be almost impossible for the Serie A defending champions to sign the highly rated 28-year-old.
