Reports in the Metro newspaper suggest that Liverpool are in pole position to free Inter midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from his Inter nightmare.
 

The 23-year-old has failed to command a first-team place since his big money move from Monaco in the summer of 2015 and a January switch now look imminent. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Frenchman will be one of the big name departures, as the nerazzurri look to reinvigorate their squad ahead of the second-half of the season after a disappointing opening to the current campaign.
 

Inter are prepared to let the player leave on an initial loan-deal but any deal will include an option to buy set at £18.5 million. Kondogbia has also been linked with a move to Marseille but is thought to prefer a move to the Premier League. This would leave the Merseyside giants as clear favourites to land the player who has yet to fulfil his undoubted potential.
